Woman struck on I-5 by tractor-trailer died by suicide, WSP says

A woman who died after she was hit by a tractor-trailer Nov. 3 on Interstate 5 in Vancouver died by suicide, according to a Washington State Patrol spokesman.

The woman was 36 years old and a Vancouver resident, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The medical examiner identified the woman a week ago but did not list a cause and manner of death for her.

Trooper Will Finn confirmed Tuesday that the woman died by suicide.

Crews were dispatched at 7:58 p.m. to the freeway’s northbound lanes near East 39th Street. The woman was pronounced dead after crews arrived, Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Kevin Stromberg said.

A bulletin from the state patrol said a 59-year-old man from Portland was driving a Volvo tractor-trailer north on the freeway when the woman walked into his lane and was struck.
