Legacy Salmon Creek names new president

Jon Hersen has been named the new president of Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.

He will begin his role as president Dec. 8. Hersen started at Legacy as a senior financial analyst before joining a leadership role in Legacy’s inpatient medicine services, according to a press release. He also held leadership roles in medical multi-specialty and primary care clinics, and as acting vice president of Information Services leading Legacy’s system-wide implementation of Epic.

“Jon brings a wealth of administrative and clinical health care experience,” said Trent Green, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Legacy Health. “He has served in various roles at Legacy for the last 15 years, most recently as vice president of Care Transformation and Payer Partnerships. He has deep relationships with key community partners and has advocated for Medicaid funding for Oregonians and Washingtonians.”

Weather alert prompts call for shelter beds

Council for the Homeless has issued a severe weather alert, effective tonight through Friday night, that asks service providers to make more emergency shelter beds available.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, nighttime low temperatures will hover around freezing. Those seeking shelter should call the Housing Hotline at 360-695-9677 between 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on weekends.

The Vancouver Navigation Center, at 2018 Grand Blvd., is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for those needing to get out of the elements during the day.
