Responders extinguish shop fire in Ridgefield

An outbuilding in Ridgefield caught fire Monday morning, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Firefighters were dispatched at 10:31 a.m. to 802 S. Shobert St. for the report of a shop or barn fire.

The first engine to arrive reported a 10-by-10 foot outbuilding, with flames extending from the structure that were threatening a home about 15 feet away, according to the scanner.

The fire was under control within 10 minutes and did not reach the home, according to the scanner.
