Waste Connections makes special delivery with pink breast cancer awareness carts

Ben Dynes, a driver with Waste Connections, drops off a pink breast cancer awareness recycling cart at a home along Devine Road in Vancouver.

An anonymous donor paid for 18 carts to be delivered to residents along Devine Road.

The carts aim to create breast cancer awareness, said Lisa Ring, in operations and development with Pink Lemonade Project, a nonprofit organization that supports breast cancer patients and survivors.

“Usually, they also have a close family member dealing with breast cancer,” Ring said of people with the carts. “It’s a way to recognize that person but also share with the community that they are in support of it.”

All of the proceeds from the carts benefit Pink Lemonade Project, which offers support during diagnosis, treatment and recovery. The carts cost $100 each and can be ordered at www.pinklemonadeproject.org/pink-cart.
