Washington State University Vancouver will host a panel centered on Clark County’s monthslong measles outbreak that recorded 71 confirmed cases of measles earlier this year.
“Anatomy of a Public Health Crisis” will be a free public panel discussion from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Nov. 12 at WSU Vancouver’s campus, at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., Vancouver, in the Dengerink Administration Building, Room 110.
Panelists will discuss the first 72 hours of the initial outbreak, how the community stayed informed and what can be done to prevent future outbreaks. Oregon Public Broadcasting Southwest Washington Bureau Chief Molly Solomon will moderate the panel that includes Wyatt Stayner, The Columbian’s health reporter, Dr. Alan Melnick, Clark County Health Officer, Debra Carnes, director of strategic communications at PeaceHealth, and Lori Anderson, a WSU Vancouver student.
