M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust gives $197,000 grant to local nonprofit

The Vancouver-based M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust on Thursday released its summer grants report detailing nearly $16 million in recent charitable giving.

Eleven grants totaling about $2.7 million were distributed in Washington, including $197,000 for the local Northwest Association for Blind Athletes. The nonprofit, which provides sports opportunities across four states for those who are blind or visually impaired, will use the funds to hire new staff focused on youth programs.

In June, Murdock announced it had passed $1 billion in charitable giving since launching in 1975.
