A pedestrian injured in a hit-and-run crash was identified Tuesday, along with the type of car that likely hit her.
Deputies were dispatched at 7:11 a.m. Monday to Northwest Lakeshore Avenue, north of Northwest 78th Street. Once there, they located a woman in the ditch who appeared to have suffered serious leg injuries from being struck by a vehicle, Clark County sheriff’s Sgt. Alex Schoening said.
Debora A. Chillura, 62, of Portland continues to recover in a hospital from “significant injuries,” according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Chillura was likely walking north on the side of the road and struck from behind.
Evidence collected at the scene, including a passenger side mirror, indicates the woman was struck by a Ford Escape SUV — or similar vehicle — with passenger side damage and first sold between 2002 and 2005, the release said.
A few hours earlier, deputies were dispatched to the same area but couldn’t locate anyone, Schoening said. He said deputies were working under the assumption the calls are related.
Anyone who locates a car matching the description is asked to call the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency’s non-emergency line at 311.
