A man who died Sunday night in a car crash in east Vancouver has been identified.
Don L. Cox, 81, of Washougal died of blunt force injuries, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office. Cox was wearing a seat belt, and his manner of death was listed as an accident.
The two-car crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. near Southeast 164th Avenue and Southeast 12th Street. Three people were involved, according to Vancouver Fire Capt. Raymond Egan.
A BMW was heading south on 164th Street when it collided with a Cadillac that was making a left turn, according to Vancouver police. A witness told police that Cox, the driver of the Cadillac, ran a red light.
Cox was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people in the BMW got themselves out of the car before the fire department arrived, Vancouver firefighter-paramedic Kevin Stromberg said.
The driver of the BMW was identified by police as Estera Ursu, 25, and the passenger as Sebastian Ursu, 23, both of Vancouver, according to Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.
Both were treated and released from PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to a hospital spokesman.
