Four-alarm fire spreads smoke across Portland

Authorities are responding to a four-alarm fire in Northeast Portland west of the Rocky Butte natural area. Structures in the area have been damaged in the fire.

The fire centers around 84th Avenue and Russell Street and the Grand Avenue Boxing Club is on fire; cars behind the club have also burned. Some of the residential areas near Knott and 84th have also been affected. The fire is apparently moving south and east, and firefighters are evacuating neighborhoods in the path of the fire.

Smoke from the fire is visible all over the Portland-metro area as far away as Beaverton. Firefighters from as far away as Gresham, Ore., are on the scene.

Roads are being closed in the area; 82nd Avenue near Madison High School has been closed for firefighting efforts. The Lumberyard indoor bike park on 82nd has reportedly been damaged by the fire, according to KOIN. Intersections along 82nd are without power and lights are out, according to KATU.
