Road near WSUV to be closed for improvement

Clark County will close a section of Northeast 159th Street east of Washington State University Vancouver next week to stabilize ground underneath the roadway.

Crews from Tapani Inc. of Battle Ground, while working to install sewer lines for a private development, noticed erosion and deterioration under the road.

The county decided to close the road, from Northeast 50th to Northeast 57th avenues, starting at 7 a.m. Monday so Tapani can finish installing sewer lines, stabilize the ground underneath the road and repair portions of the pavement.

Access will be maintained for residents in the closed section, but those residents should expect delays during the construction.

Other traffic will need to use alternate routes, such as Northeast 139th Street to the south or Northeast 179th Street to the north. Clark County will put up temporary detour signs to direct drivers.

The closure is scheduled to end Friday.
