State to explain food safety rule changes

The state Department of Health will present information about proposed changes to Washington’s food safety rules from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Vancouver Community Library’s Columbia Room, 901 C St.

The proposed changes include permitting customers to refill reusable containers with certain foods, allowing dogs in outdoor sections of restaurants and requiring that ground meats be cooked to 158 degrees on an instant-read thermometer.

Vancouver’s is the last in a series of presentations around the state. The Department of Health will also offer a webinar from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday. Email to register for the online presentation.
