Two men ID’d in Amboy homicide-suicide

The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday identified two men who died Saturday in a homicide-suicide at an Amboy residence.

Vernon W. Snider, 84, of Amboy died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head; his death was ruled a homicide, meaning it resulted from another person’s deliberate action. The ruling does not make any judgments about criminal culpability.

The other man, identified as 56-year-old Robert E. Rowland of Amboy, also died of a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide. The medical examiner’s office said Rowland shot himself with a handgun.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded about 7 p.m. Saturday to 24707 N.E. 419th St. When they arrived, they found the men’s bodies, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Property records show Snider owned the residence.

Further details about the shooting, including the men’s relationship, have not been released.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
