Pleasant weather continues with up-and-down temperatures. Cooler, near 80 with low clouds alternating with sunny and near 90.
This will continue as temperatures cool down today and Wednesday with the upswing beginning late Thursday. So, more sun and fun Friday through the weekend with highs 90 or higher. Kind of typical weather for our summers. A few warm to hot days and a few cool to warm days. Keeps things interesting.
No rain in sight, which isn’t surprising for mid-August. Plenty of time to get outside and enjoy some activities. Did you stay up late to watch the Perseid meteors? Skies were nice and clear at times the past week or so.
As of Monday, we are running a half degree above normal with the average mean temperature at 70.5 degrees. Rainfall is still at .21 of an inch, which is about average for mid-August. We have been getting a nice northwest wind in the afternoons and evenings, which feels refreshing and clears the air.
Last year on this date I wrote that Clark County had just finished a round of thundershowers with a third of an inch of rain in the bucket. More than this year so far. We have had nine days this summer with 90 degrees or higher with Monday’s high of 90 degrees and last year on this date only six days.
Cooler with some morning clouds today through Thursday and highs in the 75 to 80-degree range depending on the extent of the low clouds. Then mid-80s Friday and 90 to 95 Saturday and Sunday. Yep, up on the top of the rollercoaster this weekend.
I finally heard my first crickets the other day and I had to double check their accuracy with the outside temperature. I checked out two crickets which I had to be patient sneaking up on as they quieted down for a moment. Use the formula counting the number of chirps in 15 seconds then add 40 to that number and you get the temperature in Fahrenheit. My thermometer read 66 degrees and one cricket said 66 degrees and the other 65 degrees. Maybe he was slow. All for summer fun anyway.
