Drive-through to help city business in Camas

The Camas Finance Department will soon open a drive-thru area for payment and document drop-off.

The city will open the drive-through July 6 in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, according to a news release from the city. Drop-offs will take place at the Camas City Hall Annex, 528 N.E. Fourth Ave.

City staffers will be at the site from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with lunch breaks between noon and 1 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. In addition to accepting payments for items such as ambulance bills, utility bills and parking tickets, customer service representatives will take service requests, answer questions, make account changes and provide payment information.

The drive-through will look similar to ones located at some banks. Cars can pull into the area from Northeast Fourth Street and drive around the building to the east side of it.

Signs will also help cars maneuver through the area.

A bell will notify staff when cars pull into the area. Transactions will take place with a drawer and microphone system. Cleaning protocols will also be in effect.
