A Vancouver man was among 19 people to receive a prestigious award for media portrayals of the Marine Corps.
Ret. Marine Sgt. Jeff Dacus received the General Roy S. Geiger Award from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, the organization announced in a media release Tuesday. Dacus earned the award for “Don’t Strafe Kahili,” his article on aviation.
Other 2020 winners included Ret. Marine General James Mattis, The Washington Post’s Dan Lamothe for dispatch reporting and The Wall Street Journal’s Michael Phillips for feature writing.
Winners are recognized for an “outstanding portrayal of Marine Corps history, traditions and culture in a broad range of fields including photography, documentaries, journalism, poetry, nonfiction and fiction writing.”
Recipients will be recognized at the foundation’s annual awards dinner later this year.
