RV catches fire at Ridgefield gas station

A fire Tuesday morning destroyed an RV parked at a Chevron gas station in Ridgefield.

Clark County Fire District 6 crews were dispatched at 5:45 a.m. to 604 N.E. 179th St., for a commercial vehicle fire.

The first crew arrived in about six minutes and found the RV engulfed in flames. The blaze was threatening two other RVs on either side and had set fire to nearby trees, fire district spokesman Dave Schmitke said.

Firefighters pulled a water line and doused the other RVs initially to protect them. They also checked to ensure no one was inside those vehicles, Schmitke said.

A Clark County Fire & Rescue water tender also responded, and its crew was assigned to the west side of the gas station to protect the store and gas pumps.

The fire was under control within 10 minutes, Schmitke said. A total of nine firefighters helped out during the response.

The estimated financial loss of the RV is about $10,000, and its contents lost were valued around $4,000, Schmitke said.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
