Clark County inches toward 200 COVID-19 cases

Clark County Public Health confirmed five new COVID-19 cases Wednesday morning. There are now 190 total cases in the county.

The county still has 13 deaths related to COVID-19, as no new deaths were reported Wednesday. More than 1,600 people have been tested in Clark County.

There are 21 people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Clark County, and eight people are in an intensive care unit. Eleven men and 2 women have died; more than half of Clark County’s cases — 109 — are women. Research has shown that women generally have stronger immune systems and fight the virus better.

Washington has 8,682 confirmed cases, and 394 deaths, according to the latest state Department of Health data. The state has an 8.6 percent positive test rate as of April 3, the newest data available.

All of Clark County’s deaths have been people age 60 and older, except for one person in their 40s. Public Health has more information on its webpage.
