Judge sentences Amboy man in child porn case to five years

A 27-year-old Amboy man was sentenced to five years in prison in two separate criminal cases, one involving the possession of child sexual exploitation imagery and another for voyeurism.

Clark County Superior Court Judge Jennifer Snider sentenced Jordan Andrew Moorman on charges of first- and second-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. In a separate case, Snider imposed a concurrent 22-month sentence for the voyeurism charge.

Moorman will be on community custody for three years once released. He is also required to register as a sex offender.

Detectives arrested Moorman in May 2018 after the Vancouver Police Department’s Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit received a tip in July 2016 from the blog site Tumblr, which said it detected a user had uploaded possible exploitative imagery, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

The online posts appeared to originate near La Center, according to court records, and over the months, investigators traced the Tumblr account and associated email address to Moorman. Investigators searched his home and arrested Moorman.

He was initially booked on suspicion of 10 counts of first-degree possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and three counts of first-degree dealing in depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

According to court records, Moorman told officers the Tumblr account and email belonged to him. He said he shared the images and believed there were some on his cellphone, a computer in his room and a thumb drive. Moorman also said he had deleted child sex images from other devices.

Officers seized thumb drives, a smartphone and CD in the search. Further investigation found photographs on the CD of a sleeping 12-year-old girl in various stages of undress, apparently shot using the phone, according to another probable cause affidavit.

Detectives later discovered that Moorman and the victim knew each other.
