Former students, faculty and other community members gathered Saturday to say goodbye to the old McLoughlin Middle School and George C. Marshall Elementary School buildings. Yearbooks and other memorabilia were on display at separate ceremonies at each building, giving visitors a chance to reminisce about their memories of the schools.
The two buildings, at opposite ends of a shared campus on MacArthur Boulevard in Vancouver, are slated to be torn down at the end of this school year. Their replacements, built on the same campus, will enter service when students return in the fall. The two new buildings will have separate entrances and parking areas, although they will be connected and share some features such as a Family-Community Resource Center and a media center.
