Friends of the Carpenter to celebrate retirement

Following Friends of the Carpenter’s annual meeting on Monday, the nonprofit’s board and staff will celebrate Tom Iberle’s 10 years of ministry and welcome new executive director, Art Edgerly.

There will be a presentation of the nonprofit’s 2019 annual report, a question and answer period, tours of the facility and light refreshments. The meeting starts 7 p.m. Monday at 1600 W. 20th St., Vancouver.

“The board and I are pleased that Friends of the Carpenter continues the organization’s legacy of providing safety, structure and a sense of purpose to members of our community. Our annual meeting is a time to reflect on our successes while renewing our commitment to meeting the ever-expanding needs of the homeless, people with special needs, community service workers and those living in poverty in our community,” Iberle said in a news release.

His successor, Edgerly, previously worked as volunteer manager at Friends of the Carpenter and has done social ministry as a volunteer with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Community Services and other organizations.
