Two Vancouver schools sent “stranger danger” alerts to parents Wednesday following separate incidents where a woman apparently tried to convince a student to get in her vehicle.
A girl was waiting for her ride home Monday around 3:35 p.m. in the 8400 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue, across the street from Jason Lee Middle School, according to the message sent out to parents.
A woman driving an early 1990s tan Toyota Camry with tinted windows told the girl “her grandmother told her to pick her up (not true),” the message says. The girl ran away and told an adult what happened.
A similar incident involving a woman driving a white van happened Jan. 14. The message, sent to parents with kids at Jason Lee and nearby Eisenhower Elementary School, did not include additional details about that earlier incident.
The woman driving the Camry was described as white or Hispanic, 50 years old with gray and white hair and a medium build. She was wearing a black hoodie, a wedding ring and dark-framed glasses with silver temples.
“Law enforcement was contacted and a police report was filed,” the message says.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office did not reply to a request for information Wednesday.
