Three 18th Legislative District town halls Saturday

Residents in the 18th Legislative District can meet with their legislators during three town hall meetings Saturday in different parts of the district.

State Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center, state Rep. Brandon Vick, R-Vancouver, and state Rep. Larry Hoff, R-Vancouver, will discuss the upcoming 60-day session, which begins Jan. 13 in Olympia.

Saturday’s town hall meetings will be:

• 10 a.m. at the Port of Camas-Washougal, 24 S. A St., Washougal.

• 12:30 p.m. at Battle Ground City Hall, 109 S.W. First St., Battle Ground.

• 3 p.m. at Clark County Fire & Rescue Station 21, 911 N. 65th Ave., Ridgefield.

Each legislator provided a statement about the importance of Saturday’s events.

“Holding three separate meetings in three locations will allow us to receive important input from constituents throughout our district,” Vick said. “I can use this valuable information as I continue to push for more government accountability and fiscal responsibility in Olympia. There will also be a number of other important issues to discuss this year, including transportation, education and new tax proposals.”

“Meeting with our constituents and hearing their feedback on the issues they care most about helps us do our jobs more effectively as lawmakers,” Hoff said. “That’s why we held nine town hall meetings (last) year and are holding three more before the 2020 session gets under way Jan. 13. From taxes to transportation, homelessness to affordable housing, there is much to discuss.”

“I never fail to come away with a list of ideas and issues that guide my work in Olympia,” Rivers said. “At this upcoming round of meetings, I’ll also be ready to share some proposals, including one that would provide more money for transportation projects without any added taxes and another to expand the state’s approach to salmon management in a way that would mean more fish for everyone.”
