Mobile home fire puts man in burn center

A man was hospitalized Saturday following a mobile home fire in Clark County’s Sunnyside area.

The Vancouver Fire Department was dispatched just before 4 p.m. to Hillcrest Mobile Park at 10040 N.E. 72nd Ave., where they saw smoke coming from the front of a double-wide mobile home. A porch light was blinking on and off, indicating someone was inside, said Vancouver firefighter-paramedic Bryan Fredrickson.

Firefighters found an elderly man unconscious at the back of the home, Fredrickson said. The man was transported to the Legacy Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.

The fire was isolated to the one mobile home, which was significantly damaged by fire and smoke, Fredrickson said. Clark County Fire District 6 and Clark County Fire & Rescue assisted Vancouver firefighters.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating what caused the fire.
