Two motorcyclists involved in a serious crash in the Minnehaha neighborhood last week were still being treated at a Vancouver hospital Wednesday.
A Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman identified the motorcyclists as Nils Lange and Andrew Bartholomew. Kapp said their ages and places of residence were not listed in the police report.
A PeaceHeath Southwest Medical Center spokesperson said Tuesday that Bartholomew was listed in critical condition at the hospital. Lange was in satisfactory condition.
The crash involved a small green SUV and the two motorcycles. Police, fire and medical crews were dispatched at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 20 to Northeast St. James Road and Northeast 49th Street.
Vancouver police officers’ initial investigation found that the two motorcyclists were speeding southbound on St. James Road when one struck a Ford Explorer, which ejected the rider and caused the SUV to veer into a power pole, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email.
The second motorcyclist toppled onto the road and slid underneath the back of the SUV, Kapp said.
Both riders were taken to the hospital; the driver of the SUV did not need medical treatment.
Kapp previously said that speed and alcohol appeared to be a factor on the part of Lange and Bartholomew. As of Tuesday, there were no charges or citations filed against them.
