A woman died after she was hit by a vehicle Sunday night on Interstate 5 in Vancouver.
Crews were dispatched to the scene near East 39th Street at 7:58 p.m. The woman was pronounced dead after crews arrived, Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Kevin Stromberg said.
A first responder reported that the body, located in the far-right lane of the freeway, had been hit several times, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
Northbound traffic was diverted to state Highway 500 as crews remained on scene late Sunday. Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.
