From the Newsroom: My list of this year’s top stories

Every December since who knows when, The Columbian has published a top stories of the year package. Most years, newsroom staffers choose the stories we think are most important, but this year, Erin Middlewood, our managing editor for content, wanted to try something different. We’re listing our most-read online stories, along with a bit from the reporters and editors about how these stories hit a note, or as young people say, went viral.
