Operation Warm outfits Vancouver children with winter coats-media-1

LEAD OPTION: Vancouver Fire Department firefighter Kady Bieber, left, helps Washington Elementary School second grader Erson Ermay pick out a new winter coat at Washington Elementary School in Vancouver on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019. Firefighters with IAFF have partnered with Operation Warm to distribute more than 200,000 coats in over 300 cities nationwide since 2012. IAFF Local 452 in Vancouver raised more than $6,000 this year and is handing out 315 jackets at four schools. Bieber has spearheaded the program in Vancouver for the past few years and says they hope to keep growing so that they can expand their reach to more schools. ÒI want to be able to reach as many kids as we can,Ó she said. ÒEven though we did so well this year, there are still so many kids who need them.Ó If you are interested in donating to this program, contact the Vancouver Fire Department at 360-487-7209.
